Still Careening Along...
I’m so sorry I’ve fallen behind on my blog! I’ve been on the road and, in between, trying to pick up the pieces and play catch up here at home. I’ve come down with some kind of bug, unfortunately–despite my religious use of anti-bacterial handwipes–but I guess that’s not a surprise, with all the traveling I’ve been doing. I’ll hit the road again the day after tomorrow so am trying to recover in record time, dosing myself with Emergen-C, which if you’ve never heard of it, I highly recommend! It’s a small packet that contains 1000 mg of Vitamin C; you just add it to a glass of water and gulp it down. Between that, two more nights in my own bed, and some homemade soup, I should be ready to hit the highway again by Thursday morning.
Speaking of health issues, my father-in-law is on the mend. I’m sure Mark will fill you in–with a few amusing anecdotes--as soon as he has a chance. Thanks to everyone for all the prayers and good wishes.
Over the weekend, we received word that a good friend of ours, Lou Gugino, had passed away quite suddenly. Please keep his wife and children in your prayers. He was a wonderful man with whom we shared lots of good times, and his loss will be deeply felt.
On a much brighter note, I had a wonderful signing event at Borders in Mount Kisco on Friday night. I’ve added lots of photos of the event and all the friends who attended, as well as photos of my trip to the International Reading Association conference in Atlanta last week. Some of you will see yourselves. Thanks for all the support!
Mother’s Day was particularly bittersweet this year as it fell on the third anniversary of my mom’s death from breast cancer. We miss my mom and Mark’s mom every day, but Mother’s Day is always a particularly difficult reminder of what might have been. Thank goodness my husband and children made it special for me, and were waiting that morning with hugs, cards and presents. I spent the day surrounded by the loves of my life–and got to watch the Survivor finale with takeout chinese food that night. What could be better?! Do you watch Survivor? If you do...weren’t you shocked by the outcome??
