At this time of year, I always find myself bogged down with work, feeling restless and yearning for…I’m not quite sure what. Great news of some sort? Travel? New shoes? Pie? I don’t know, exactly. But lately, any break in the daily routine seems more welcome than usual.

Is it just me? Or do you, too, have a case of the doldrums or spring fever or whatever it is that’s ailing me?

Here are some things that have given me a lift the past few weeks, and not in any particular order:

*My children’s birthdays
*Discovering a new local restaurant and eating dinner there three times in 9 days
*Arugula-Mango-Walnut-Goat Cheese salad at said restaurant
*Blessedly good news from a doctor about a loved one
*Buying something nice for my husband just because
*“The Real Housewives of New York”
*Sitting in the March sun beside a firepit on Long Island with friends and beers on Saturday afternoon
*A wedding shower
*U2 Tickets going on sale this morning
*Seeing a middle school musical, Once Upon a Mattress
*Seeing a high school musical, A Chorus Line
*Writing my new thriller
*Homemade cream puffs
*Encouraging news on a secret project I've been working on
*Walking
*Cabernet

How about you?

Hmmm. I think my list would include

Exciting news from an old friend
Reconnecting with old friends on facebook
Seeing my recently widowed sister in such good spirits
Getting my seeds started on time
Seeing the garlic and rhubarb growing in the garden
Teaching a neighbor how to prune her crabapple and her delight at the results
Filling the bird feeders with chickadees scolding right over head
Getting my hands into the soil

I want to go camping. Cooking on the fire. A few drinks at night. Strolling the grounds. Smores at night. Yummy!

Spring fever? I've been just about crawling out of my skin! Fortunately, there always seems to be an outstanding book by a certain someone to look forward to. ;-) I am also looking forward to Gloria's return 3 night engagement at Foxwoods (front row, here I come!), lots of local book events, a baby birth or two, and...ice cream!
