First of all, congratulations! That is a terrific achievement. I,
of all people, know how much hard work went into the process.
I wish I could take a look at it but unfortunately, I have a very
strict policy against reading unpublished manuscripts, for my own
protection on the advice of my attorneys.
I can, however, recommend several reputable former New York editors
I know who now run consulting businesses. They are professionals
whom you can hire to read and critique and/or edit your work. I
highly recommend going this route if you're serious about
publishing.
Another valuable resource, no matter where you live or what kind of
fiction you are writing, is the national organization Romance
Writers of America.
http://www.rwanational.org They
provide a wealth of information for aspiring authors, along with
great networking opportunities at various regional and national
conferences that draw New York editors in search of new talent. I
used to be an editor myself and I acquired a number of authors
through RWA conferences. Editors know that RWA members are
well-educated on the publishing industry and that they mean
business!
Good luck launching your writing career. I'm living proof that your
dream can come true.
